Feeling Better

Just when I think the fever is gone, wham, 4:30 am 103.3. Two hours after the Motrin had set in, it was still high at 101.1. Luckily, he slept through the heavy storm which consisted of fierce lightening and rolling thunder.

Damn, I need to call the doctor. Or should have I done that yesterday? Come on now, we all know as mothers, or even fathers, that we think it is going to pass. But now all I am thinking, is it strep throat?

My poor lethargic little man. Nose running. Coughing. Spiting up phlegm. So when the doctor's office opens, I call and make an appointment. My little man couldn't even get out of bed-here I am carrying his hot little, but not too light, body in the pouring rain. Thankfully, the strep test came back negative-Amen!!! The doctor gave me a RX for Zithromax but told me to wait until tomorrow if the fever is still high. More than likely this is just viral and he needs to fight it off.

After a five hour nap, someone woke up refreshed as could be. He put on his pirate earring, ate some plain noodles, and hasn't stopped since.

Tonight was suppose to be his night to visit with his dad. He said that he didn't want to go because he didn't want to get his dad sick. When I asked about me getting sick, my little man replied, "God will take care of you".

I am so glad he's feeling better! I know what you mean about waiting it out. I did that two years ago and regretted it, you did the right thing to take him in but how wonderful that he didn't need the meds!

He already has a faith that God is watching over you - that's so cool!

Ahoy there!

Typical - it's always a constant battle whether to go to the docs or wait and sit it out - if unsure, it's always best to go. So glad he's feeling a lot better now.

Fly girl. . . I alway waited it out. . . I hated exposing them to all the stuff in the waiting room. . . I am glad the Doc told you to wait and let his little body fight the viral stuff. I'd fill that antibiotic for future use. . . that is just me Dr. Mom.
Ciao

I do that too, I think, oh, most of the time these things just pass.

Last time I did that, my Ashlyn was so sick she couldn't walk, when I took her to the doctor it ended up being appendicitis (sp?). I think we know our kids and when it's time to go....

OMG you have one little shining light of a little man there. That is too darn cute, and I am gonna have to share your story with others.

It is great to hear he has gotten his strength back and is fit to be a healthy child again. Looks like God was taking care of him too!
