Court

I had a court date today for arrearage of child support.

The ex did not show.
His attorney was 15 minutes late.
Between my attorney and his attorney an agreement was made.

So tell me, why are my emotions everywhere?

Does it have to do with never having any closure?
Or is it because I tried to work this situation out so that it didn't have to go to this extreme?
Why do I care what "those" other people think of me?

No, it is not PMS. Remember that was two weeks ago.

Maybe because, my dear flygirl, it's completely natural to feel emtotional over something like this. It was not the plan on the day you said "I do" to end up in a court for child support. It hurts. You hurt for yourself and y our son. And it's ok. For me, the hardest thing is to feel my pain - I always want to cover it with something, and that is so damaging. Sooner or later it will come out. I think now is the healthy time to feel the feelings rather than having a meltdown in five years. Bless you sweetie, you'll get through. If you ever want to talk email me.

I think you give them to much power. Everytime I give people power, I end up taging a resentment.

No answers, I just hear the wheels of your brain whirring and want to send a hug.

P.S. Your son is ADORABLE!

I'm sorry it was such a hurtful experience, but I'm glad everyone was able to come to an agreement. That's the best thing for your son.

It might be the way you are looking at it. Child support isn't about paying you. Its about paying your son. Keep your eye on that concept. Your son is going to cost a boat load of money to raise. The max child support you could get will probably not even dent that amount. It adds, and adds, and adds in ways you cannot begin to imagine. Being a nice guy now makes your son lose out in the end.

Whats right is right.

I enjoy reading your bits about the child support and court cases, I divorced 5 years ago and still struggle with my ex. Currently CS is in arrears, and he lies and cheats on lodging the forms and then says it's all my fault.
Hang in there, I wish yours work out better then mine! As long as you keep doing the right thing, no one can point a finger!
