Overview of the Party

Once all the shipmates arrived (ten including the birthday boy), the games began.

First was Walk the Plank…everyone walked on a piece of wood that was over blue paper which represented water. I didn’t blindfold anyone, but had they been older, I would have. After successfully walking the plank, each child received their eye patch and head bandana.

Next was Pass the Pirate Hat…played like hot potato. When each child got out they were given their telescopes.

After that was Place the Flag on the Pirate Ship…like pin the tail on the donkey. No one was blindfolded. At this point of the day I just wanted it over. When they completed the task they were given their jewels.

Finally was Musical Islands…just like musical chairs. Each child earned a red scarf for around their waist and a balloon type sword.

We took individual pictures and a group photo. I later realized I forgot to play the Cannon Ball game (Bozo Buckets) and also forgot to add a mustache to their attire. Oops!

The hearty meal consisted of…
Hot Dogs, Italian Beef, Pasta Salad, Cheetos, Pretzels, Veggies, Peanuts, Pirate M&M’s, and Sand Pudding.

Then of course was cake. Yep, it was a Pirate of the Caribbean cake. Sam’s did a great job!

Opening of presents…I honestly can not believe all that he received. Thanks to everyone for their generosity. A special thanks to my brother who went overboard! He is for sure my little man’s favorite uncle.

Finally, the piñata. Yep, I got them all sugared up!!!

Forgot to get the pictures from my dad when I saw him yesterday, I was too busy putting Lego's together. Please be patient!!

The Party Is Over

Yes, it is finally over. No rain, thank God. Yes, my little man and I kept thanking Him all day. Our prayers were answered. I tried to explain to my little guy, you just gotta have faith that God is going to do the right thing. It apparently sunk in; my little man mentioned it when we reflected on the party.

It was a hectic day as my parents were over doing last minute things that, well, I asked my dad to finish before the party. It is amazing how much less free time my father has now that he is retired. It all got done, peacefully. I love my parents. Sometimes stress is added when it is unnecessary.

I did accomplish my to do list, plus more. When I ran out for my errands, I made a stop at Staples since they were acknowledging teachers. I got my little goodie bag. I even managed a trip to Target. We were in and out in less than thirty minutes…what a record!

I have lots of pictures to share, however the photographer (my dad) took home the memory card. Later I will write a brief overview of partying like a five year old. I need to get some sleep, I’m exhausted! The Batman Lego did me in.

Things To Do For The Party

The roasts are in the crock pots cooking-tasting pretty good
The pasta is cooked. The vegetables are cut. Need to mix together with dressing tomorrow so that it can set-easy breezy
Sand pudding-will make tomorrow night-even put it in a sand bucket
Goodie bags, almost done-done

Things still yet to do...

1. Go to Costco to pick up:
A. rolls for the Italian beef-done
B. hot dog buns-done
C. candy for piñata-done, got at Wal-Mart

2. Go to Party City to pick up:
A. eye patches & earrings
B. rings-done
C. pirate scarves
D. balloons-done
E. gold coins-done

3. Go to Wal-Mart to pick up:
A. fruit snacks-done
B. cups-done
C. silverware-done
D. black eyeliner
E. red material-done

4. Go to Dollar Store to get swords-went, they didn't have any

5. Make telescopes-finished after 1st update

6. Paint cannonballs-finished after 1st update

7. Send parents to Sam’s on Saturday on way to party to pick up:
A. cake
B. ice
C. veggie tray-picked up dip at Wal-Mart, had plenty of vegetables to make own tray

8. Tidy up

For now, this is all I can think of. I work better at the last minute. I am a total procrastinator. Tonight I had an event with Church; otherwise I could have accomplished more than half of the list.

Okay, so I am procrastinating some more.

I have some issues though. One being the store was all out of the pirate scarves and earrings. I'm going to run to a store of the same chain about fifteen miles west of me in the morning. I ended up cleaning the backyard, which was not on my list, yet there were some sticks and leaves that needed attention. Now the rain needs to stop. It is just a drizzle. My little man is hopeful as am I. For those attending be prepared for a wet lawn.

Update #2:
Worked on cannon balls, islands (forgot to put on my to do list) and telescopes while watching The View. 1:00 AM...it is now raining...really raining...no longer drizzling. If only I had a boat for the yard, then the kids could be in it like it was a ship. Weather.com is showing the rain ending within the next few hours. Let's hope the yard dries out.

Planning a Birthday Bash

So it is a dreary day. We got some good storms last night and early this morning. They were definitely needed.

It's a perfect day for me and my little guy to work on tidying up the house for the soon to be birthday bash. Yes, my "pirate" is having a birthday bash. Number Twelve did an outstanding job making the invites. She volunteered. All I asked her to do was scan something for me. Her creativity took off from there. All I had to do was watch those cute little girls. Who would disagree?

I was going to make the pinata, however I have opted to just buy one. The week when my little guy got sick really threw me off. One less thing to worry about. I have to thank Da Gal for giving me the directions on making a pinata. Maybe I'll try next year.

In the works are the gathering of pirate gear. After a game is played, each friend will receive a piece of becoming a pirate. A group as well as individual pictures will be taken. The last game will be finding the treasure, which will then lead to the pinata.

Food is going to be easy. Hot Dogs for the kids and Italian Beef for the adults. Of course there will be chips, salads, and other munchies. Oh, and I can't forget the pirate cake.

Now, if I could just get Captain Jack Sparrow, aka Johnny Depp, all would be set.
