Fall break took a lot from me.
Wednesday night began with Oktoberfest at my son's school.
Thursday we slept in and lounged in our pajamas until it was time for my doctor's appointment.
Friday we spent the day at a pumpkin farm in Illinois. It was the first time in four years since I had been there. The last visit was with my son and my ex. It was a beautiful day and my little guy had a blast.
Saturday I woke up feeling absolutely miserable. Miserable enough that I spent the whole day in bed. I was so relieved when I found out my son's football game was canceled. I slept many, many hours.
Sunday..I didn't even make it to church. I once again slept many hours. I woke up about fifteen minutes before I had to pick up my son. It was a long, exhausting evening.
I have survived the last two days at school. The kids have been so kind knowing I am not feeling one hundred percent. Today though I barely had a voice. Let's hope it's back tomorrow.

Hello!
So I'm back! Not completely into the swing of things yet. A friend from our women's group ended up in the hospital, needing surgery, so we have spent the last couple of days running around making sure her kids are taken care of. Her family is of no help.
I came back from my getaway completely relaxed. In fact, no one has yet to ruffle my feathers at school. This would definitely be the time as the end of the first grading period is next Wednesday and there are projects to complete, work to get finished, etc. (I'm knocking on wood as I type this.)
So my cat has knocked over the bird cage. Not once, but twice. I was awakened last night at 3:30 to a crashing noise. I don't know what has gotten into him, he has never done that before. He is even taking off the bird's blanket at night. My little guy says the cat should be grounded, unfortunately for now the bird is. He is being kept in the laundry room until I can do some rearranging. Wish me luck!

The Weekend Is Over
It sure has been a busy week/weekend. It was homecoming week at school. It is always fun to dress up on those wacky dress up days. This year some of the teachers participated in a dance (Soldier Boy) before the "real" dance team at the pep rally-it really pumped up the crowd. I helped with some of the activities during the week and chaperoned the dance. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and the school spirit was alive!
Soccer is finally over for the little man. He got his trophy and is ready for basketball to begin-which is this coming Friday. There are still three more weeks of football. I'll be glad when he's down to one sport again. I don't think he gets as run down as I do, but I am the one running here and there, working, maintaining the house, etc. I'm not complaining, but sometimes during the school year it gets tough doing it all alone.
Speaking of the little guy, he got one yellow card this week. It happened on Monday-wrestling on the carpet. I have to say when he goes all out, he definitely makes it worth it to change his color. The teacher mentioned that she notices a difference in his behavior every other week. Obviously I'm talking about those weeks when he has returned from his dad's. It is just something we will have to get through.
Sadly, the Cub's are out of the playoffs. Let's see how the Bear's do tonight.
Have a great week!

Checking In
Here it is, October. For the last few weeks temperatures during the day have ranged from the high 70's to the low 80's (high 20's-low 30's). Evenings have been perfect for keeping the windows open and catching the cool breeze. Leaves are falling and the wind has been blowing which has prohibited me from cleaning them up. Eating taffy apples have become a common treat in our house. Speaking of, did you know they make caramel candy corn? It is quite yummy!
Tomorrow I will be attending a field trip with my son's class to the apple orchard. We have been there many times, yet it is always fun to go. We'll go on a hay ride, see the baby chicks, pet the billy goats, and finally get our pumpkins. The weather looks promising (no rain).
Go Cubbies!
