Things are going well, really well. Both for my little man and for me.
In fact at dinner tonight, my little guy wouldn't stop hugging me and telling me how much he needed to talk to me because he hadn't seen me all day. His card is still on green (which is where it needs to stay for those not familiar with the stoplight system for behavior). I'm not exactly quite sure of his job for the week. Some days he buys hot lunch. He gets milk every day and of course he picks chocolate. Mornings, well mornings will be mornings. But I never thought I would hear my six year old ask for ten more minutes.

1 Week Down...35 To Go
Back to school for me has been pretty good. Since we have had rain all week it as been easier to go to work, although I must say I am having sun withdrawal. Needless to say we have a pretty good routine going here at home. The little man has done great. There were a couple of little glitches the first day-nothing he knows about-but he has transitioned so well. Of course I had tears in my eyes his first day of school when I left him at before care. Let me not forget to mention that I was up at 2:30 am. Why? I can only guess I was nervous for him, I don't know. Where has the time gone?
Thank you all for your words of encouragement.

First Day Jitters
So I am beginning to become a total wreck. It is only a 1/2 day of school. He will be okay. He will be okay. He will be okay, won't he?

It's Over
The party is over...we had some rain...but everyone loved their light sabers (made from those pool noodles). I'm exhausted. I go back to work tomorrow. The little man's first day of school is Wednesday. Where has the summer gone? BTW...I have become addicted to that Lego Star Wars game.

Savoring the Last Days
I have gone through a little bit of stress as I have tried to savor these last few days of summer vacation.
Monday I was at school trying to help out with some schedule issues. Oh, the smell of freshly waxed floors!
I picked up my little guy later in the day and we went to soccer practice. Things were going well until bedtime. All of a sudden my sweet child was no longer the child I knew. Granted, this behavior has occurred in the past, however it was turned up about 60 notches. Hence, I didn't sleep well Monday evening which wasn't good because my father was having surgery early Tuesday morning. My mom was taking my dad to the hospital and I was on call. Later in the afternoon we were able to visit with Gramps. Surgery went well-thank you God. Fortunately, I was able to switch visitation nights with my little man's father so that we could go see Gramps, plus after the horrible night we had, there was no way I was letting my son out of my routine/rules or whatever you want to call it. I did speak to the ex about a couple of things, yet I'm not sure why I even bothered.
We made it to the water park today. Knowing that the days are numbered are making me miss it already. We never go on the weekends, however I might have to take advantage of that in the next couple of weeks.
I need to finish up with the party stuff. Enjoy the rest of your week.

Happy 6th Birthday Little Man
He chose to go to Cracker Barrel this morning after church. He had the usual two pancakes and bacon while I indulged in sourdough toast, eggs over easy, hashbrown casserole, bacon, and fried apples. I did walk for 90 minutes tonight, so I don't feel too guilty. It was a special occasion and my only meal for the day.

Time to Report
Yesterday I got the letter informing me that I need to report to work on Monday, August 20th. So there it was, an official letter letting me know that my summer vacation was soon to be over. I am not ready to go back. I'm ready for my little guy to go back, but not me. There are still some projects I wanted to complete here at home. I haven't been able to accomplish them because my father is going through some medical issues right now. He is my right hand when I'm doing things in my house, so I have had to put these projects on hold.
My little guy registered for school on Tuesday. I can not believe he is going to be in kindergarten. He has met two of his classmates already-both girls-isn't he lucky? We're all set up for before and after school care. He'll continue to go to the 1st choice room at the Y in the morning as he did last year before pre-school. They'll then transport him to his school. He'll then be able to participate in the extended care program at his own school after school. My only concern at the moment is how exhausted he will be after a full day of school. It can be such an adjustment. A good note to add is that his father has agreed to alter parenting time during the week from 4:00-8:00, he generally visited with him from 5:00-9:00.

Only Two Weeks Left
So it is finally starting to hit me...going back to work. Two weeks from toady I will be sitting at the annual back to school breakfast gathering. I know once I go back and get in the swing of things and the weather isn't as pleasant anymore I will be fine. However, right now the weather is hot and I am enjoying the water park way too much. I still have a house to get ready for a birthday party, games to finish for the party, and well any other back to school things I haven't done yet. The little guy is well set for clothes and shoes. I've gotten some new tops for myself. We register for school tomorrow as well as get haircuts.
So off I am...to the water park...happy Monday!

Week in Review
It sure has been a hot week. We spent 4 of the past 5 days at the waterpark. My son, who is (or should I say was) fearful of water, actually was swimming underwater.
My little guy enjoyed VBS this week.
Our youth conference was a huge success. Tuesday's venue included John Gray and closed with Israel Houghton and New Breed. I think they performed for almost two hours. It was totally amazing!
