Things That make Me Go Hmmm

It is hard to believe that the holiday is over. A nice long weekend and I feel pretty refreshed. I didn't nearly accomplish all I wanted to around the house, but what else is new? When my parents were over, my father cleaned out the gutters and put those guards in them to help keep all those leaves out. Thanks dad. While my good ole dad was doing that, I was getting my tired repaired, I mean replaced. It was not fixable-thanks for road hazard it only cost me $10.75. I did some shopping, mostly for me though-oops. I did purchase the football. Any suggestions to go with it? I made quite a few trips to Starbucks, actually too many. The tree is up, however the ornaments will be put on tomorrow night. I decided to wait so that my little man could help.

Onto the Next Holiday

Two days after the feast and I am fortunately down 1.5 pounds. I will thank lunch yesterday to Taco Bell for that. Enough said.

Seriously, Thanksgiving went rather well. The weather here was absolutely beautiful. My parents were over bright and early. We put plastic on the windows, watched the parade on State Street, cooked an awesome Turkey with stuffing (thanks to Barefoot Contessa), and truly enjoyed each other's company.

It was something I have missed in a while. I haven't cooked like that since I have been divorced. I realized how much I really miss that.

I did call my little man early in the morning to wish him a Happy Thanksgiving and to let him know how thankful I am for him. It was really hard not spending the day with him, however I did get a phone call a few hours later from the X telling me how he forgot to tell me he had to work the next day, so he would be bringing my little guy back later in the evening. Hmmm, luckily it is all about my son, so I didn't make a smart ass remark. I'll stop there.

The day ended with a .5 pound in weight gain, leftovers sent home with everyone, Christmas lights put up outside, a flat tire, and the evening with my son.

I have so much to be thankful for.

Oh My

Ah, the end of the work week. The evening started with me dropping my son off to his father. He's going to be gone for four nights-oh my! I was then off to church, afterwards I was able to get fresh thyme and rosemary before stopping at Target, and to keep me calm, a Chai Latte from Starbucks. I was home by 9:45, and in the kitchen by 10:10. Everything is just about set. Let's hope it all taste well.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Ready...Set...

All is just about set for Thanksgiving dinner here at my house. Nothing extravagant...
  • spinach salad
  • roasted turkey, of course
  • apple herb stuffing
  • sweet potatoes
  • mashed potatoes
  • rolls
  • vegetables
  • apple pie
  • pumpkin banana mousse tart

The only items still to purchase are fresh rosemary and thyme.

All of this preparation and cooking should take my mind off my little guy who will be with his father.

Just Some Thoughts

This fall has been a real bummer for me. This is one of my favorite seasons and this year it has been one of the rainiest. There hasn't been a whole lot of time to enjoy being outside. Thanksgiving is in five days and then my fall season will be over.

I still have much to do for Thursday. It seems never ending, why is that?

I'm catching up on your blogs. I'm about half way through my blog roll. Hope to finish up tomorrow.

Hmmm

I'm so sorry I have not been reading any blogs. I realize I have a lot of catching up to do.

I have to confess that I have been keeping up with the Black Friday ads. Target will more than likely be my first stop as my little man told me what he wanted me to get him for Christmas. I'll be picking the same item up tomorrow from Toys R Us with my big book coupon just in case all else fails at Target. As for Santa, my little guy wants a football. Is there something wrong with this picture? Hmmm.

Blah, blah, blah

The weekend was very relaxing.
  • Being able to sleep 12 hours straight Friday night and 10 hours Saturday night was what my body needed.
  • My little man had an outstanding performance at his basketball game.
  • I did some rearranging, watched HSN and QVC, caught myself up with General Hospital, Oprah, and The View.
  • Started Christmas shopping, I never shop this early.
  • Now I need to get the house ready for Thanksgiving...it turns out the gathering will take place at my home.

Thursday Thirteen

  1. Worked long days this week.
  2. Tomorrow is only a 1/2 day.
  3. Got paid a day early.
  4. There is only a little bit of that paycheck left.
  5. I hate the first paycheck of the month.
  6. Why is everything due the first half of the month?
  7. It would be nice if child support arrived early.
  8. No chance of that happening.
  9. A weekend to myself is in the works.
  10. Friday night will be with the girls.
  11. Saturday must be devoted to housework.
  12. Let's not also forget the shows on my DVR.
  13. Maybe a nap or two.

The Energizer Bunny

Things just don't seem to be slowing down. Here it is November and I am still going, going, and going. If it isn't one thing, it is another. Not complaining, however I am just tired. Tired, really, really tired.

On top of all of that, my little man's father-what in the world was I thinking? You know, it just saddens me that a poor innocent child has to "suffer" due to the ignorance of his parent. Enough said.

I am grateful for:
  • the ability to look at the positives
  • looking forward and not taking steps back
  • my supportive parents
  • time spent with my little man
  • coffee, diet coke, and water
  • my wireless connection so I can type this in bed
  • my blogging buddies

No He Didn't

While I was teaching the last service today (4,5,6 year olds), a girl said out loud, "He said SHIT." As I turned around, the boy replied, "I said I was sorry."

On the Go

A day to finally sleep in and my little guy is up at 6:30. Thank goodness he let me sleep a little more.

A trip to WalMart, Subway for lunch, basketball game at 2:00, next to Hobby Lobby, then to Bed Bath, & Beyond, The Dollar Store, a quick run into Hallmark, and finally to Meijer's.

Crazy, maybe, but I am teaching at church all day tomorrow and I needed to get most my errands done. We watched the third movie we rented and I managed to get one load of laundry done. It'll be Monday morning too soon.

I changed the look of my blog too!

Mumbling

It's Friday night,
the 3rd day of the month November.
It is almost a full moon.
We rented 3 movies of which we have already watched 2 of them.
I have my freedom of my wireless modem-I'm in love,
however I am more in love with the new Honda CRV.
I'm all caught up on all my blog reading, I think.
Off to bed.

Happy Weekend!

No More Wires

I finally have been connected to the web without any wires. It only took three days, two new modems/routers, and over two hours of technical support. Now we both are able to do our thing on our own computers. Hooray!

Countdown to Christmas

Now that it is November 1st, it is time to start thinking about those Christmas gifts. I usually plan what I am going to buy ahead of time, however I usually don't shop until the last minute. My little man is definitely first on the list. I have to shop early for him, otherwise items will be picked over. Unfortunately, what he really wants is not in Santa's budget.

How do you plan for the holiday giving?
